Badminton School launch New Uniform

19th January 2018

We returned to Badminton School in Westbury-on-Trym this week, to photograph a new uniform range they have recently launched across the full school. Having photographed for Badminton previously, highlighting new developments in sports and full school facilities (see www.jonesmillbank.com/badmintonschool for full portfolio), it was a joy to return to this quaint part of Bristol for a more personable shoot.

Russell gets a selfie with our pro hockey player.

The new uniform features across various departments and activities including, Sport, Science, Horse Riding and Boarding. The full uniform re-launch will feature on the main school website very shortly.

What do Prince George, Frankenstein and the RAF have in common?

10th January 2018

They were all inspiration for The Royal Mint’s 2018 Annual Coin Set of course!

Following the launch of this collection last week (accompanied by one of our videos), we are now able to share with you our top pic[k]s from all the behind the scenes action.

Two long days of filming were able to create this vibrant piece cleverly capturing the themes of each coin. The Annual Coin Sets are available to buy now from www.royalmint.com/annualsets2018

Shooting starts with the NHS

8th January 2018

It’s been a long time in the planning, but filming started over the weekend for the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust. We’ve been commissioned for a series of informative and educational films for patients to watch before they go into hospital for a planned procedure.

Each relatively long form, varying from 10 to 20 minutes, the day was a fantastic start to a logistically difficult production.

And don’t worry, the “patient” is actually Chris Monk, Trustee of Above & Beyond.

The work Christmas party – Warsaw 2018

20th December 2017

We’re not sure how many times something has to take place before it becomes infamous. It’s probably more than two, so we don’t think we can call our work Christmas parties such yet. But for the second year, following Bruges in 2017, we all took a trip to Warsaw to get fully Christmasy-fied.

Three days, one off-the-beaten-track tour in a pink communist van, six people stuck in an escape room, 83 mulled wines (ish), half an injury on an ice rink, 3 hours at a Mozart opera and one anonymous member of the team arriving back at the apartment at 8am later, and we returned to Bristol truly in the Christmas spirit. If not a little worse for ware.

It’s not just the Queen celebrating 70 years of marriage…

18th December 2017

Back again with The Royal Mint, we recently shot a series of shorts to commemorate The Queen and Prince Philip’s Platinum Wedding Anniversary and showcase the release of their 70th Anniversary coin collection. We shot three ordinary couples, also celebrating their Platinum Wedding Anniversary to get their take on marriage, 70 years on.

Finding couples who were celebrating their 70th Anniversary was a tricky task in itself, but we were able to scout Douglas and Cecily, grandparents-in-law of one of our directors, along with Alun and Delphine and Alan and Nancy.

Each took us through the story of how they met, what has kept them going after all these years and most importantly, their secrets to a long and happy marriage. Whilst their stories differ, there’s no denying that all three couples are very much still in love.

All three videos are now available to view on our YouTube channel. This was certainly one of the most heartfelt shoots we’ve been on in a long while; a watch of the first draft had everyone here tearing up…enjoy!

83 videos for the University of Bristol

11th December 2017

Following the successful win of a national tender we produced 83 videos for a series of three Moocs; ‘Global Citizenship’, ‘Innovation & Enterprise’ and ‘Sustainable Futures’.

Featuring course leaders, academics, case studies and students the films were produced in under three months and whilst heavily focused on Bristol the project also saw us shoot across the UK and in Switzerland and Albania.

The courses are due to be launched in 2018 alongside articles, offline study and other pedagogical content. You can view our case study page at www.jonesmillbank.com/work/university-of-bristol.

Wales, wind and four legged friends with Wuon-Gean

5th December 2017

Having produced videos for The Royal Mint since 2014, we were delighted to produce the third video in their Shengxiao collection; Lunar Year of the Dog 2018. The shoot took place on Ogmore beach, Wales, with the weather holding out just long enough for us to capture some awesome footage of the coin’s designer, Wuon-Gean.

Wuon-Gean took us through the creative process and her inspiration for the coin’s design. She explained how she spent many afternoons at the park observing people with their dogs and understanding the movement of various different breeds.

We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her sketch book -a compilation of endless detailed drawings of the dogs she’s encountered which offered inspiration for the coin’s conception and watched as she demonstrated the intricate carving process.

The full video featuring the Lunar Year of the Dog coin in all its canine glory will launch early in 2018. Thanks to Wuon-Gean, and everyone at The Royal Mint for another stunning and insightful shoot. Here’s to many more!

Battersea video reaches 30M+ views

30th November 2017

We helped Battersea Dogs & Cats Home by filming their Muddy Dogs event earlier in the year. We had some fantastic news to share with them last week; UniLad organically picked up the video and shared it on their feed. Within a week the video garnered over 25 million views (and counting), as well as hundreds of thousands of positive interactions and shares.

The video has since been picked up by a number of other content hosts including LADbible and is set to help the event sell out faster than ever before.

You can view our case study page and the original video at www.jonesmillbank.com/work/battersea.
